Using the app
How do I export an uncropped photo for Instagram?
Pick your photo, choose a ratio (4:5, 1:1 or 3:4), choose a border color and thickness, then tap export. 7rats saves the result to Photos at full resolution and opens the share sheet, where you can hand it straight to Instagram.
Which ratio should I use?
- 4:5 — the tallest the feed shows without trimming. Best use of screen space for portrait shots.
- 1:1 — square. Safest for grids, since the profile grid crops to a square anyway.
- 3:4 — a gentler portrait shape when 4:5 leaves too much border.
The exported photo looks softer than the original
7rats exports at your photo's native resolution, so this is almost always Instagram's own re-compression on upload rather than the export. Check the exported file in Photos first: if it is sharp there, the app has done its job.
7rats can't see my photos
Open Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos, find 7rats and choose Full Access or Limited Access. With Limited Access, use Edit Selected Photos to add the pictures you want to work on.
Purchases
I paid to remove ads but the banner is back
Open 7rats, go to the ad-free option and tap Restore purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account that made the purchase. Restoring is free and works on any of your devices.
Refunds
In-app purchases are handled by Apple, so refunds go through them. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and pick the purchase. If Apple turns you down and you think that's wrong, write to us and we'll see what we can do.
Privacy and data
Your photos are processed entirely on your device and are never uploaded — not to us, not to anyone. There are no accounts. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
Requirements
7rats works with iPhone and iPad. The App Store listing shows the current minimum software version.
