# 7rats

> 7rats is an app for iPhone and iPad that puts any photo on an Instagram-ready canvas with a clean border, so photographers can post the whole frame instead of a crop of it. The exported file keeps the photo at its native resolution. Everything runs on the device: no accounts, no uploads.

Instagram trims photos that do not match the aspect ratios its feed supports. Photographers who care about composition end up either cropping the shot or letting the app pick what to cut. 7rats solves this by resizing the *canvas* instead of the photo: it builds a canvas at an Instagram-ready ratio around your full frame and fills the leftover space with a border color you choose. The photo itself is never cropped, scaled down or re-encoded at a lower resolution.
